I’m back from the dead.

June 15, 2009

Wow…  how time flies…    it has been a while since I have been here, but rest assured I have still been doing what I do – namely, smoking cigars.  Life just caught up with me a little bit, know what I mean?   I am starting my last semester of grad school this week, and so my life is slowly returning to my control.  The reviews will continue very soon, and I have a lot of gems that I am excited to try and share with you!

One piece of exciting news is that I would like to welcome our new sponsor, PartyPoker.com!  Please check them out and let them know that you heard about them from The Berris Blog!

There are a few other changes that may happen in the next couple of months as well:

1.  I am looking at some format changes to TBB…    I am all about simple and plain, but there are a few things that I would like to add that the current theme doesn’t support…

2.  There may be a name change in the works.  Not that there is anything wrong with calling it The Berris Blog, but I am thinking of coming up with something catchy that is a little more cigar-oriented, since that is what this is really all about, right?   The thing is, not only does it have to be catchy, but the domain must be available as well…   this may take a while…

3.  I really need to go through my links…  some have not been updated in wuite some time.  Hell, I bet my link on other pages has been axed due to lack of activity…   I need to get my stuff running again to earn a spot back!

There is probably more, but that is all for now…

I am currently looking at a couple of big Herfs in the near future, and I have been trying to get some sponsorship by manufacturers/retailers.  I have had few responses – anybody out there want to help?   Shoot me an email.

Thanks all –

Talk to you soon,

~Bill

Down for the count… AGAIN!

November 2, 2008

Hey everyone…   yeah, I’m still here.

Sorry about not posting in a while – I have been sick (AGAIN!) for the past week and a half.  What the hell?!?  Oh well, at least I am once again in the process of recovery.  I had a pretty nast head and chest cold but I am not coughing up lung butter anymore, so that is a good thing.

Had a most excellent Custom Lonsdale last night…  what a good way to get back into the swing of things.

I will try to get back to the reviews as soon as possible.

Thanks for hanging with me!

Some sad news…

October 22, 2008

Larry Deleski (Belicoso_Fino), one of the owners of the International Cigar Club cigar forum, passed away on Sunday morning.  ICC has become an excellent and most informative cigar community, and his presence will be sorely missed.

Please smoke your next cigar in his honor, and send some positive thoughts out to his family during this difficult time.

RIP Larry.

I am almost completely recovered…

September 28, 2008

Well, I think I have just about beat this goddamn headcold…   Unfortunately, my palate is not quite up for a review yet.  I did smoke a hell of a cigar to test things out though — a Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona from 2004.  Some really wonderful Cuban twang and flavors – at the same time smooth and refined.  I couldn’t pick out a lot of what I thought I should be able to, so I am going to maybe try a review in the next few days and see how things go.

Thanks for your patience…   I am trying to find some interesting cigars to review at the moment.  There are so many new offerings, that I am having a hell of a time figuring out what I should try to locate and buy.

Is there anything that any of you would like to see me review?  Let me know, and I will be happy to add it to my list assuming I can find it around here or online.

Cheers,
~B~

Down for the week…

September 21, 2008

Well…   I was hoping to get a review in, but it just doesn’t look like it is in the cards.  I am feeling the beginnings of some kind of head cold/sickenss, and I need to try and fight it off.  My palate won’t be much good for a review for the next few days at least.

I hope to get a RASS in tonight for good measure though…    🙂

Keep reading the other cigar blogs I have linked, and I will start reviews again as soon as I get through this!

Thanks to those who read this little blog, I appreciate it!

My Altadis USA Appearance…

August 5, 2008

So, back on July 5th PO and I put together what turned out to be quite a herf…    This 1st Annual Modesto Herf turned out to be a great event with over 20 BOTL in attendance from a variety of cigar forums.  We ate, drank, and smoked until early the next morning.

One of the sponsors of our event was Altadis USA.  After a few emails back and forth, I was invited to join their VIP program for people throwing regional cigar events, etc.

About a week after the herf, I sent thank you emails to all of our sponsors along with a few pictures…

A few days ago, I received the Altadis USA VIP Newsletter, “Cigar News”.  I read the front page and flipped it over to read the second page when I got a bit of a shock…   There was my mug looking right back at me — one of the pics from our herf made it into the newsletter!   Wow!

Here we are…

And a closeup…  forgive the poor resolution, it was the best I could do…
